Rogue的啤酒常有題獻對象:有題獻給媽媽的Mom Hefeweizen,有題獻給爸爸的Dad's Little Helper。今天要介紹的Hazelnut Brown Nectar,則因為原始配方是由Rogue釀造總監John Maier的友人Chris Studach,在前者準備參加1993年American Homebrewers Association研討會時所修改出來,而題獻給自釀啤酒人士。至於這位友人到底對這款啤酒動了什麼手腳......簡單說,就是真在nut brown ale裡加了nut啦~

在代理商少量引進的Tactical Nuclear Penguin、Sink The Bismarck均已完售的當下,Tokyo*毫無疑問是目前台灣市場中酒精度最高的啤酒之一。18.2%的酒精度,讓330ml包裝的它輕易地超越男性一日內的安全飲酒量。

不過,除了利用香檳酵母,打造出這奇高的酒精濃度之外,Brewdog還在這酒中加入了許多巧思:包括在釀造過程中添加茉莉花、蔓越莓,冷泡Cascade酒花,以及在熟成過程中添加烘烤過的橡木片浸泡四個月。使得這隻Imperial Stout的口感豐富不少。
使用Maris Otter、Dark Crystal、Caramel、Chocolate四種麥芽,並添加烤大麥的它,酒色深棕。開瓶時即傳出濃烈的茉莉花香與蔓越莓果味,佐以些許酒精刺激感,以及巧克力香。回溫後則顯現出焦糖與橡木片帶出的香草氣息;入口首先傳來濃縮的茉莉花甜味,佐以些許蔓越莓果味,中段帶出烘焙麥芽巧克力般的風味,末尾則有濃郁的麥芽甜味,與些許酒精的辛辣感。雖說比想像中易飲許多,但18.2%的酒精濃度,還是讓我在打這篇taste note的途中不斷出錯啊XD
另外,Tokyo*的IBU值雖然高達90,但或許因為原始麥汁濃度甚高,喝來苦味不明顯,反帶有幾分糖漿感呢!
